Review: The Taylor Made Burner Driver
As an avid golfer, it has always been my dream to review clubs and today I finally had a chance to do exactly that. I was recently sent a Taylor Made Burner driver by the fantastic people at theworldofgolf.com. The first thing that I thought from opening the club was the sheer size of the head. The head is HUGE! I mean it is really massive. The club is also very eye catching and glistens in the sun. Of course, with a large head you would think a great deal of weight, right? Wrong! The driver is as light as they come. I was partial to flex shafts because I have a unique swing and they never fit well with my downswing. I tried the club today and I could immediately feel the difference between this shaft and other flex shafts. This one was right on in its flexibility but it never looses momentum during the down swing. It is an overall clean follow through when you hit the ball to the end of your swing. If you are looking to invest into a new driver the Taylor Made Burner driver is hard to beat. I did some measuring and it looked like 3/4th of the club face was the club sweet spot. If you are new to golfing, the sweet spot on a driver is when the impact of the club is at the optimum with the ball. Therefore, you will see the longest distance with a sweet spot connection. The head from right to left is about 4 inches and 3 inches of that is the sweet spot. That is very exciting! Overall, I would give the club a solid 4.8/5 rating. I received the 50 gram shaft and I believe for heavier users, they also provide a 65 gram shaft. In either case, the shaft is super light but with the latter you will be putting a bit more weight behind the club face. Check out my initial review below:
