On the Road…

I had to make an unexpected trip to Texas due to the passing of my aunt. It was hard for us to go through and it made me feel even worse when I thought of my cousin who has never been alone and now at the age of 30 has to be alone. I know, that does sound old but if you were to know how much he has gone through and the amount his mother meant to him, you would feel bad too. He was having a difficult time leaving because my aunt (his mother) had been sick for some time. I think we all knew this day was coming but when it did, it hit me like a train. One of the biggest things I brought back with me is the amount of time that we have on earth. I think thats a given but even more so, I truly understood why they say you should limit grieving. In my religious context, we are told not to “over grieve” because the soul has its own journey and any excessive grieving that we do, the soul is unable to continue on its path. Its a profound understanding of afterlife and the development of personal grievances towards the deceased.
