Judge Rules Against parts of Patriot Act
The one that caused the biggest concern with the judge: Turning over Internet records for judicial review. A federal Judge recently stated that parts of the Patriot Act is unconstitutional (can we say, um YEAH!) and states that there should be court oversight when government orders are setup to have Internet providers turn over records without informing customers. US Judge Victor Marrero (thank you Victor) stated that governmental orders must be subject to judicial review and the recently rewritten Patriot Act provides serious constitutional concerns of checks and balances and separation of powers. The law was also fought against by the ACLU to provide those constitutional rights. The ACLU states that the national security letters were improper in those cases (even after they found that they were being misused by the FBI). I am pretty tired of my constitutional rights being stepped on for the sake of national security people. I am glad that the ACLU is still fighting strong for the country and our rights.
